Recombinant Human Serum Albumin (rHSA), Rice
Rice-derived, animal-origin-free recombinant human serum albumin (rHSA), supplied as a 20% liquid solution. For cell culture, formulation research and bioprocess development.Â
Canvax Recombinant Human Serum Albumin (rHSA), Rice, is a purified recombinant protein produced using a rice-based expression system. It provides an Animal-Origin-Free (AOF) alternative to plasma-derived human serum albumin for research and bioprocess development.
This ready-to-use 20% liquid solution offers controlled protein content and molecular size distribution. Its specifications include ≥98% combined monomer and dimer content by SEC-HPLC and ≤1% polymer content.
rHSA can serve as a protein supplement, stabilizer or formulation component. It supports research involving cell culture, cryopreservation, vaccines, viral vectors and biopharmaceutical formulations. Users should evaluate its performance under their specific process and formulation conditions.
rHSA Yeast-derived also available.
Looking for GMP-grade recombinant human serum albumin? Canvax also offers a separate GMP-grade rHSA option for regulated biomanufacturing projects. Contact our team to discuss availability, technical documentation, and manufacturing requirements.

I prefer working with liquid albumin preparations when testing different formulations, as they simplify the preparation of working solutions. This rHSA from rice comes at 200 mg/mL, which gives us flexibility when adjusting the final protein concentration. It is a convenient format for our routine laboratory experiments.

We selected this rice-derived recombinant human serum albumin for our protein formulation development work. Having a 20% ready-to-use solution makes it easier for us to prepare different albumin concentrations without an additional reconstitution step. The animal-origin-free composition is particularly relevant for our formulation studies, where we try to keep raw material sources well defined.

In our lab, we pay particular attention to the origin and specifications of proteins used in formulation experiments. This plant-derived human serum albumin is an interesting alternative when we want to avoid animal-derived materials. I also appreciate having product specifications available to review before incorporating a new reagent into our workflow.
